Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a ticket to attend the show?
No. The West 18th Street Fashion Show is a free, outdoor event with a limited number of VIP Runway Seating available for purchase. So, as always, you do not need a ticket to attend, but wouldn't you rather have a comfy seat with a great view along the runway? Furthermore, in the event of rain, the show will be moved to an indoor location and only ticket-holders will be allowed entry.
Where do I park?
The event takes place on 18th Street, in between Baltimore and Wyandotte. We do not have designated parking - we suggest you park wherever you find it to be available. There is plenty of public street parking in the Crossroads.
Can I bring a chair?
No, due to the layout of the event, bringing your own chairs is not allowed. If you would like a seat for the show, please purchase a ticket for our runway seating.
What time is the show?
It generally starts around 8pm and lasts until about 10pm.
When do tickets go on sale?
We will announce this in the spring, but you can generally plan for tickets to go on sale around May 1. Sign up for our contact list to be notified when tickets go on sale.
How can I be a designer in the West 18th Street Fashion Show?
Sign up for our email contact list, and you will be notified each year when we announce our "Call for Designers". The call for designers generally occurs in February and lasts for about a month. The selected 18 designers are chosen among a large field of applicants based on the quality of their application and experience. Application instructions will be published on our website, so just follow the directions and submit your application by the indicated deadline to be considered.
Do my designs have to be original for the show?
Yes, the West 18th Street Fashion Show shows only original designs custom made for the show. None of the runway looks will have been shown or displayed publicly prior to the show.
How can I be a model in the show?
The simple answer is to contact the designers directly. With the large number of designers and the limitations of producing a live, outdoor event, each model will only walk once. The designers choose each of their own models, and have them styled specifically for their collection. We generally post the designers' contact information on the website in early April, so be sure to check the website and reach out to them directly. The producers of the West 18th Street Fashion Show have no say in choosing the models, so please do not email us.
Can I sponsor the show?
We would love to have your support. This show would not be possible without the support of our local business and donors. Sponsorship opportunities vary. Please contact us and we will send you a sponsorship packet
How do I become an official jewelry/accessories designer?
There are two processes you must go through in order to be an official jewelry designer. First, you must follow the application process just like the clothing designers. If we have received a valid application from you by our deadline, then once designers are selected, we offer them the opportunity to partner with you. If you are chosen by a clothing designer, you will be accepted as an official jewelry/accessories designer.
Can I photograph the show or have a press pass?
Due to the large audience and the unconventional layout of presenting a fashion show in the middle of a city street, we have limited space for photographers. We allow for certain members of the press, and our own photographers and videographers. Beyond these individuals, we simply cannot make any further accommodations for photographers, but that doesn't mean that you can't still attend and take photos. We love photos! Feel free to attend, or even buy a seat and take photos. Just be sure to be courteous to those spectators around you and share your photos with us!
How can I help or volunteer?
Each year, we utilize the help of a great team of volunteers on the day of the show. Please send us an email with "volunteer" as the subject, and be sure to include your contact info and what kinds of things you can do for us. We will contact you when and if we need volunteers.
